A spreadsheet can contain specification wording, while a document link repeats part of it. When those fragments are pulled into one summary without their source locations, the summary can look more certain than the supplied material. For sourcing LED lights from China, a source record keeps each detail tied to the file, message or page that states it.
The goal is to organize existing material. It is not to read a specification as a performance conclusion, decide what a product is or make a commercial choice.

Why specification and document sources differ
A product specification record can preserve a phrase, table cell, supplied image or attachment that uses specification wording. A document reference can preserve a received document name, link, issuer shown or destination phrase. Each is a source category. Neither one tells the reader what a LED light does, whether a measurement applies or what decision should follow.
Source separation becomes useful when a product detail appears in more than one place. A product brief may name an item one way and a document may name it another way. The record can retain both entries and point back to the original material. It should not write a new statement that chooses between them.

Start with received product material
Begin with the original product material. It may be a product brief, an image, a drawing, a message or a file. Give it a stable label such as LED-01 and retain the original filename, folder location or message link. The label makes the source easier to find. It does not add a product detail that the source does not state.
If a source includes a date, the record can preserve the visible date. If it names a sender, the record can preserve that name. If either field is missing, record unknown. Do not add a date, company name, model or product description to make the entry look complete.
The product sourcing page can sit beside the packet as an internal site reference. It does not add facts to a particular product source.
Keep component driver and sample sources separate
A component reference may be a file label, image, list entry or attachment. A driver reference can be a separate attachment or message item. A sample record can identify a received image, sample label or file location. Keeping them distinct prevents a reader from treating a file about one item as a statement about another.
The record can show a link that the supplied material makes visible. For example, DRV-01 linked to LED-01 in message MSG-04 preserves a stated relationship. It does not decide what the driver is, whether it belongs to the product or how the product performs.
The product development and samples page can be retained as an internal site reference. It does not change a source record into a sample approval, product decision or release.
A practical record layout

The record can be plain. A source that gives only a name or a screenshot should remain a name or screenshot in the record. A short source is not a reason to invent a fuller specification.
Give measurement references their own entries
A measurement reference can identify a received document, file name, source page or attachment label. It belongs in its own entry because its presence does not decide what is measured, whether the reference applies to a particular light or what any value means.
The NIST standardization support material is solid-state-lighting standardization information. The page identifies categories that include color specifications, measurement methods and LED nomenclature. In this article, that is only a source category. It does not interpret a supplied specification or measurement reference, and it does not decide performance, quality, safety, compliance, testing or certification.
A measurement label can be retained exactly as received. It should not be rewritten as a claim that an LED light meets a performance, quality, safety or compliance condition.
Keep documents and destination sources separate
A document reference records a received document name, issuer shown and any stated destination wording. A destination source records a supplied page, message or file that mentions a destination. Neither is a product specification or a measurement result.

Their limited use here is to show why a document reference remains a separate category. Preserve unknown sources
Unknown source is a valid record category. It may apply to a driver image with no original attachment, a measurement-style file with no sender, a specification note with no linked product or a document that has no visible date. The entry should describe what exists and what the source does not reveal.
For example: Unknown source: measurement-style PDF in shared folder; original sender, date and related LED light reference not recorded. This describes the material and the source gap. It does not define the file or treat it as a measurement result.
An unknown field helps preserve the line between received material and a later interpretation. That line is easy to lose when a record is rewritten as a narrative summary.
Prepare a discussion packet
A discussion packet can open with a source index, followed by product briefs, LED light references, component references, driver references, sample records, measurement references, document references, packaging records, destination sources and unknown-source entries. Stable labels make cross-references easier without changing the language in the original materials.
The quality control and inspection page can be included as another internal site reference. It does not make the packet a quality, inspection, testing, acceptance or commercial decision.
