Why product detail and packaging sources differ
A product detail source can preserve a product image, stated name, component note, metal phrase, diamond reference, gemstone reference or pearl reference. Start with received product material
Begin with the source that identifies the product, even if it is only an image or a short message. Give each source a stable label such as JWL-01, then retain the original filename, folder location or message link. The label makes the source easy to locate again. It does not supply a missing product detail.
A record can preserve a date when the source displays one. It can preserve a sender when the source names one. When those details are not visible, write unknown. Do not add a company name, material, product description, stone name or value detail to make the record look complete.

An entry does not need to be longer than its source. A product image, phrase or attachment can remain exactly that in the record. A detailed rewrite may make the source harder to trace and can introduce claims that the material does not support.
Give packaging and label references their own entries
Packaging records can include a box image, insert file, artwork, package-text image or supplied packaging note. Label references can include a received image, wording, document or page link. Both categories should retain their own source locations.
