A file labelled as a product specification can remain a product specification source. The labels help a reader return to the source. They do not say that the wording is complete, current, accurate, suitable, accepted, rejected or connected to a particular product, supplier or outcome.<\/p>\n<p>A source packet can retain the same phrase in more than one place. A message, product brief and drawing may each contain related words. The record describes its own source rather than a product or manufacturing arrangement.<\/p>\n<p>For example, &#8220;material term from supplied product brief&#8221; tells a reader where the phrase appeared. &#8220;component wording from attachment&#8221; points back to a received attachment. &#8220;unknown source&#8221; shows that the received material does not identify an origin. These labels do not supply a material type, component identity, quantity, cost, date, quality status, safety status, compliance status or next action.<\/p>\n<p>A record can state a visible connection between sources. If a message names an attachment, the source set can retain that link. It should not create a connection only because two files have similar names, appear in the same folder or mention related language.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"separate-labels\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"separate-source-labels-keep-wording-intact\">Separate source labels keep wording intact<\/h2>\n<p>One broad folder title can conceal where each material or component phrase came from.
